What's So Special About Us?

I listened to a very thought provoking message on Saturday night. It was still on my mind early Sunday morning. I found myself asking God, “What’s so special about me? Others have stories to share too.” This is what He brought to my mind. I know lots of people who have overcome divorce. I know several breast cancer survivors. I know some widows. But, I haven’t yet met someone else who has experienced all three. I certainly don’t know anyone who went through breast cancer and loss of a spouse in the same year. When the Lord reminded me of all of this, I had to get up, raise both hands and just give Him praise!

I must admit that communicating on social media is still outside of my comfort zone. I’m not sharing my hardships so people can feel sorry for me, nor do I feel sorry for myself. I’m just trying to let others know that the same God who helped me overcome is able to help them too. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Maybe today you’re facing a challenge that I or someone else endured last year, five years ago, or whenever. Well, if He did it for us before, He can do it again today. When you encounter another trial in the future, He can walk you through that too. Sometimes it’s good to look back and see how God blessed us at certain points because it helps us remember that He’s still with us. God promised never to leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5 c). Finally, every chance I get, I have to invite you to read my book. Why? Because part of my testimony is in there, and because it has blessed and helped so many people. I believe it can do the same for you. Until next time, remember you are somebody very special.

I really enjoyed this months blog titled,”What’s so special about me?” It causes me to recall all the past characters of the Bible who had this very same question before going on to do great exploits by Gods power! Moses, Gideon, and Jeremiah to name a few. They all felt that what was asked of them was extremely far fetched and beyond their pedigree, literally to BIG for them to handle. I think this question/spiritual disposition is a pre-requisite of sorts. It’s a certain temper of the spirit that God calls us out of that has stemmed from years of trials, test, and tribulations. In essence, leaning on Him and allowing Him to persuade us gets us to this point.…
