I listened to a very thought provoking message on Saturday night. It was still on my mind early Sunday morning. I found myself asking God, “What’s so special about me? Others have stories to share too.” This is what He brought to my mind. I know lots of people who have overcome divorce. I know several breast cancer survivors. I know some widows. But, I haven’t yet met someone else who has experienced all three. I certainly don’t know anyone who went through breast cancer and loss of a spouse in the same year. When the Lord reminded me of all of this, I had to get up, raise both hands and just give Him praise!

I must admit that communicating on social media is still outside of my comfort zone. I’m not sharing my hardships so people can feel sorry for me, nor do I feel sorry for myself. I’m just trying to let others know that the same God who helped me overcome is able to help them too. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Maybe today you’re facing a challenge that I or someone else endured last year, five years ago, or whenever. Well, if He did it for us before, He can do it again today. When you encounter another trial in the future, He can walk you through that too. Sometimes it’s good to look back and see how God blessed us at certain points because it helps us remember that He’s still with us. God promised never to leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5 c). Finally, every chance I get, I have to invite you to read my book. Why? Because part of my testimony is in there, and because it has blessed and helped so many people. I believe it can do the same for you. Until next time, remember you are somebody very special.

In September of 2019, I was mostly relieved when the doctor told me that I could come back in a year instead of every six months (like I had for 5 years).  Then, the following month I took my last oral chemotherapy pill.  Well, I must admit that although I was relieved, I still had to overcome fear.  I had thoughts like, “What if the cancer comes back?”  or “Are you sure you want to wait a whole year?”  Well, the enemy also spoke to Jesus, and Matthew 4 reminds us that He overcame with the words “It is written...It is written...It is written...”  I choose to follow the example of Jesus and speak God’s Word when faced with fear, opposition and temptations.  We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.  (Rev. 12:11). God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7). Because of the stripes of Jesus, I am healed.  (Isaiah 53:5).  Our God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20).  I could go on and on.  And my testimony...Last week, I had my annual mammogram, and I am still cancer free!!!  It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  If you need a mammogram, schedule it and do your self exams.  I miss my relatives and loved ones who passed away from breast cancer.  I’m also extremely grateful to God for those on both sides of my family who have survived.  I love you!

One day, you can read about my survivor story in my second book.  By the way, have you read my first book? I’ve been told it’s a 'must read' and you can order your own copy.

When we launched my website last October, we announced my first book, WHEN I WAS 40: Overcame Some Challenges, Still Learning and Growing would be coming soon. It’s here! I was writing my book at the time and was full of anticipation. Well. Guess what? My book is finished, and it became available for purchase online in the first week of August. I placed my first order immediately, and the estimated arrival was 3-4 weeks. Well...we prayed that God would cut that time in half. (Anticipation and expectation).  My book order arrived in less than 2 weeks!  Many people have read it and shared their favorite parts of the book with me.  I am so excited and grateful to everyone who shared with me, someone else and for posting a review.  One of my favorite quotes in my book:  “Regardless of where you turn, you cannot escape God’s will for you.” Those words were spoken by the preacher after service one night.  There's more of the story in Chapter 2, Still Called, Still Favored.  In case you’re wondering, I wrote this book to remind myself of how good God has been to me and to let you know that He can do the same for you.  Before I forget, I am excited about my Book signing on Saturday, September 12 at 1 pm.  Join me either FaceBook Live or at 296 Live Oak Church Road, Hinesville. Are you anticipating and expecting with me?  I hope so.  We will practice social distancing and still have a great time.  You don’t want to miss it.  If you come, you can enter your name in the drawing for a chance to win a FREE book.  I will give away two books Saturday.  I’m looking forward to seeing you and thank you for support!
